Academic misconduct identification and its handling procedure
  According to the notification of "Five Prohibitions in Publishing Academic Papers" issued by the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Health and Family Planning Commission, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Engineering, and the Natural Science Foundation, as well to protect the rights and interests of readers, and to maintain the reputation of China Brewing, the papers will be detected and screened in strict accordance with the results of the testing system during the publication process. For the paper identified as academic misconduct, it will be withdrawn and dealt seriously.
1. Identification process
  China Brewing adopts the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) scientific journal academic misconduct literature detection system to automatically detect papers, and uses the Chinese Academic Literature Network Publishing Database as a full-text comparison database to detect whether the paper has academic misconduct situation regards to plagiarism and falsification, fabrication and manipulation, improper attribution, duplicate publication, etc. If the paper is found to have the academic misconduct situation after publication, it will be withdrawn. If the duplicate check rate of the paper is ≥20%, the paper will be submitted together with the comparison paper to the reviewer to determine the nature and form of the duplicate content. The identification standards of academic misconduct are as follows:
(1) Plagiarism and falsification: To copy or steal all or part of someone else's work without citation, which means taking the content of someone else's work as own work without admitting its source. Without the authorization of others, to edit, scissor and paste, or modify the thesis, arguments, data of tables and images from someone else's work, and adding to own paper without citation.
(2) Fabrication and manipulation: Fabrication means to fake false evidence and experimental results by fabricating experimental data and samples without basing them on actual experimental data. Manipulation means the researchers alter, delete, or get data for acquiring the ideal results to cater to the research conclusions, in the form of subjective selecting the data and manipulating the raw data, etc.
(3) Improper attribution: Signatories who have not participated in the relevant research but intentionally sign on others' work for some purpose, including unwarranted infringe the results of others, ranking of the authors incorrectly reflect actual contribution, unauthorized labeling the work with well-known authors, etc., that cause the actual attributors cannot sign or in the wrong order, or to increase the research number of those who are signed; "free-riding" in the work by those who have no merit.
(4) Duplicate submissions: same authors submit the same paper to two or more academic journals for simultaneous or sequential publication.
(5) Duplicate or repetitive publication of one academic result: to divide results based on the same investigation, experiment, or research into multiple papers for publication, or to divide a paper that should be published at once into several publishable units for publication. Multiple papers have the exact same topic. Most of the content is duplicated, or to repeat the mass contents of own published or forthcoming thesis for publication.
2. Handling process for academic misconduct paper
(1) With a cautious attitude, for the paper which was identified as academic misconduct after various detection channels, the authors of the paper will be notified and will be allowed to explain and defend on this issue before the Editorial Department makes the decision.
(2) If the paper has been accepted but not formally published, the paper will be directly returned in the manuscript processing system of the journal website and its acceptance will be rejected, and authors will be criticised, educated, and warned.
(3) If the paper was formally published, the authors will be notified in written form to cancel the admission qualification and withdrawal its inclusion in the database.
(4) The authors will be severely held accountable, in case of causing reputation or other losses, the financial losses compensation will be asked.
(5) The relevant leaders of the authors’ units will be notified.
