Ethical Standards of China Brewing
To strengthen the construction of academic integrity of China Brewing, standardize the process of paper writing, editing, reviewing, and publishing, and resist academic misconduct, the following ethical standards for the authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers of China Brewing were formulated in accordance with the relevant provisions of copyright law, publishing ethics at home and abroad, and combined with the actual situation of the journal.
Authors’ Responsibilities:
1. Authors shall ensure that the work submitted is original and written in accordance with the relevant specifications. Any directly or slightly modified use of ideas, data, methods, or written expressions in published literature should be cited and explained to avoid academic misconduct such as plagiarism, forgery, tampering and multiple submission of one manuscript.
2. Authors shall be responsible for the authenticity of the manuscript and provide original pictures, original data, project authorization, name and serious number, and other supporting evidence as required by the editorial department.
3. All copyright owners should agree to sign copyright assignment. According to the Copyright Law of the People's Republic of China, all copyright owners (including all authors and their affiliations) should agree the paper can be published in China Brewing, and transfer all rights, including copyright, publishing right, network transmission right, translation right and compilation right, to the editorial department of China Brewing. The copyright of papers in other languages should be authorized only to China Brewing. The content of papers does not infringe upon other people’s copyright or any other rights and does not involve state secrets, or all responsibilities should be assumed by the author. The editorial department pays full remuneration and copyright transfer fee to authors within two months.
4. All undersigned authors should make substantial contributions to the research and responsible for the research results, both academically and ethically. The manuscript signature should include all the people who have made substantial contributions to the research work and be ranked in order of contribution or convention, including important contributors to the idea or design of the research work, or for research data acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of the data. Authors can express gratitude to the helper in the acknowledgments.
5. Authors can declare or recommend reviewers in the manuscript submitting stage and may not recommend false or interest-related reviewers or interfere the peer review process. Authors should maintain an objective and rational attitude towards the review opinions, if there is any objection, authors can inform the editorial department timely, and provide strong defense materials.
6. To concern conflicts of interest, authors should declare any conflicts of interest that relate to papers accepted for publication in our journal.
7. Authors should ensure that any studies involving human or animal subjects conform to national, local, and institutional laws and requirements.
8. Authors should notify the editorial department if a significant error in their publications is identified.
Reviewers’ Responsibilities:
1. Reviewers should try to perform their duties, if the review cannot be completed on time for various reasons, they should timely return the review, or recommend others to review, or inform the editor the time and reason for the possible delay.
2. Giving objective, detailed and clear comments to assist editors in improving the quality of the paper timely.
3. Reviewers should try to give a fair evaluation on the significance of topic selection, the scientific level and writing quality of the manuscript, should respect the independence of the authors' thought and the enthusiasm of scientific research innovation, and avoid imposing ideas on the authors.
4. Being aware of any potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, or other relationships that might lead to bias or a conflict of interest) and alert the editor without retaining or copying the manuscripts.
5. The manuscript submitted for review shall be kept confidential, and the content and relevant information of the manuscript shall not be disclosed to others.
6. Alerting the editor to any published or submitted manuscript which is substantially like that under review.
Editors’ Responsibilities:
1. Editors shall deal with each manuscript fairly, impartially, and timely, and decide whether to accept or reject the paper based on its innovativeness, scientific, practicability, authenticity and relevance to the content published in China Brewing.
2. Give entire, detailed, and clear modifying suggestions or rejecting reasons to authors by the peer review. During the review, if serious quality problems are found in the manuscript, it is necessary to communicate with the chief editor.
3. Following the author’s requirement of avoiding experts to review the submission if it is reasonable and available. If the author disagrees with some changes made to the article, editors should give the author response to any complaints.
4. Editors and other editorial staff shall not disclose any information about the submitted manuscript to any other author or publisher, except for seeking assistance from a professional perspective for the evaluation of the manuscript.
5. Respecting the author's views and style of writing, and any critical changes of the manuscript involving academic views should be approved by the author.
6. Publish review process and writing template, and answer every question put forward by the author seriously, scientifically, rigorously, and timely.
7. The editors have responsibility and authority for rejected or accepted articles and have no conflict of interest with all manuscripts.
8. The confidentiality principle should be observed, the information of reviewer should be strictly kept, and the contents of unpublished manuscript should be strictly confidential.
9. Maintain and select editorial board members who made contribution and find new authors to improve the journal in addition to inviting high level literature reviews and holding editorial board meetings to get helpful suggestions.
10. Collect evidence, investigate, and retract submissions which have academic misconduct and control the spread if the paper has been published.
11. Protect and update the private information of authors and develop new reviewers if it is needed.
12. Editors of China Brewing cannot submit papers to this journal.
Sponsor or Publisher Responsibilities
1. China Brewing is sponsored by the China Condiment Industrial Association (CCIA) and Beijing Academy of Food Science (BAFS) and published by China Food Publishing Company. The requirements of CCIA and BAFS for the journal are obeying the academic publishing ethical standards, publishing high-quality and up-to-standard manuscripts, and improving communication in the food field.
2. The publishing company cannot intervene in the decision-making power of editors.
