Abstract

The antimicrobial activity of the fructus Alpinia oxyphylla (AOF) was determined by filter paper method with different extraction solvent
such as water, methanol, ethanol, ethyl acetate, petroleum ether. With the minimal inhibiting concentration (MIC) detected by the broth two-fold agar
dilution method for Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Aspergillus niger being 3.00mg/ml, 1.50mg/ml and 24.00mg/ml respectively, the re-
sults showed that the 80%vol ethanol-extract from the AOF represented significant antimicrobial activity. And good stabilities under different p H val-
ue, temperature and UV irradiation time were obtained.
