Strain combination optimization for the production of protein feed from notoginseng residues by mixed fermentation experiments, in which all combinations of five polysaccharide decomposing fungi and three yeasts were used for the test, was suudied. The result shows that the impact of polysaccharide decomposing fungi on the fermentation result is stronger than that of yeasts significantly, and the interaction between polysaccharide decomposing fungi and yeasts in the mixed-fermentation is significant (p <0.05). The result of co-fermentation by Aspergiilus niger and yeasts is significantly better than that of co-fermentation by other polysaccharide decomposing fungi and yeasts. There is no significant difference among co-fermentation results by Aspergiilus and anyone of three used yeasts (p >0.05).
